WHAT'S
NEW

Thanks to the generosity
of Bobbie and John Arlottta and so many other wonderful individual
supporters, we were able to refresh our
Clubhouse with all new
computers! We would also like to thank Linda and Jim Zafarana for
their donation of a beautiful new printer and for the help with
special pricing from HP on all the new computers. In addition to
the 16 new computers, we were also able to purchase a digital and
a video camera, software upgrades, headphones, and music room equipment.
With all the new equipment and the support of the Adobe
Youth Voices Program, the clubhouse is buzzing this summer with
activity. It's our busiest summer yet! Stop by and check out the
action. Summer hours are 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Gold
Crown's Computer Clubhouse has been selected to participate in Adobe
Youth Voices Program.
Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) is Adobe Foundation's signature philanthropy
program designed to provide youth in underserved communities with
the critical skills they need to become active and engaged members
of their communities and the world at large. The program enables
young people in and out of the classroom to use cutting-edge multimedia
and digital tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate
their potential, and take action where they live.
The selected Clubhouses rated highest on several criteria ranging
from alignment of goals, to teen involvement, to demonstrated staff
capacity for creativity/initiative. A combination of software and
equipment were awarded to each Clubhouse from Adobe. These tools
will be used by Clubhouse members to express themselves through
multimedia, digital art, video, sound, animation and websites.

Best Buy Children's Foundation Awards
Gold Crown Foundation $10,000 Technology Grant
The Best Buy Children's Foundation, thanks to Best Buy Store No.
210 located at Wadsworth and Crestline at Southwest Plaza, awarded
the Gold Crown Foundation's Enrichment Programs $10,000 to help
fund the program's ongoing computer and technology needs.
Through a very competitive application process, Best Buy selected
the Gold Crown Enrichment programs to receive the award. Giving
back to communities is central to the way Best Buy does business.
Each year, Best Buy donates up to 1.5% of pretax earnings through
the Best Buy Children's Foundation and Corporate giving programs
to help strengthen communities.
As a Company, and through it's Foundation, Best Buy works with
nonprofit organizations to support programs that provide opportunities
for youth. It's goal is to provide positive experiences that will
help them to excel in school, engage in their communities, and develop
leadership skills. Best Buy created a local giving program allowing
Territory teams to decide how Best Buy Children's Foundation funds
are used to impact their local area. The company also encourages
local volunteerism by providing charitable gifts to organizations
where employees volunteer.
The Gold Crown Enrichment Programs were a great fit because of
the daytime art and technology classes for nearby middle-school
students and also the after school Computer Clubhouse Program operated
at the Gold Crown Field House. Keeping current with technology is
critical to the ongoing success of these programs and Best Buy's
contributions will go toward refreshing the equipment at the Gold
Crown Enrichment Center.
