PROGRAMS

Computer Clubhouse
Gold Crown's Computer Clubhouse is a free-of-charge, award-winning program model developed by the Boston Museum of Science and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Laboratory. Our Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where over 400 registered members (ages 10-18) from the Sheridan corridor work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. Members attend on a drop in basis Monday through Friday from 3-7 p.m.
Guided by adult instructors and mentors, each youth identifies a project that is important to them, and then sets out learning how to use various art and technology skills and tools to complete the project. Some youth have written, recorded and produced their own music; some have designed and programmed their own video games; others have created series of fine and graphic visual arts pieces. Regardless of the project in question, all youth work in an energetic, digital invention workshop, using industry-level computers and software. Youth also have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from youth around the world through the Computer Clubhouse Network, a virtual intranet connecting the more than 100 Computer Clubhouses around the world. Youth in Lakewood, Colorado can work daily with youth in more than 20 different countries.

Daytime Art & Technology
T he Gold Crown Foundation works closely with Jefferson County R-1 Schools (Colorado's largest school district) to provide art and technology classes to neighborhood middle school students. The classes are taken for elective credit, and coincide with the district's 12-week trimester system. Currently, about 30 students from Creighton Middle School are bussed to the Gold Crown Fieldhouse where they spend half of their time in the technology lab, then switch to the art classrooom space next door.

Summer Camps

Every summer, the Gold Crown Foundation hosts an annual Girl’s Volleyball camp and the Bill Hanzlik Basketball Camp, in which young basketball players from 2nd grade to 10th grade benefit from the expertise of high school and college aged basketball coaching.
To coincide with this summer's Girls Volleyball and Hanzlik Basketball Camps, Gold Crown Enrichment offers art and technology classes rounding out a whole day of fun and enrichment.

Note: The following Enrichment Camps can be packaged with the sports camps or taken on their own. Registration is available on-line or via phone, 303-233-6776, x235.
